My poor little Noble

Postby buladean on Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:15 am

:( My Izak, a 5&1/2 year old noble, has screamed for 2 months. We have had lots of changes lately--graduation in May left us as empty nesters (except for the three birds) no more teens passing through incessantly. All of the family was here for graduation so Izak got passed from shoulder to shoulder for several days. Since then he has kept rubbing his vent with his foot and SCREAMING most of the day. He paces and seems terribly nervous. My husband and I are trying to give him extra attention, but when we're not holding him, he screams. I have given him new toys, plenty of interesting food. Any helpful hints out there?
Thanks in advance,
Jennifer

The stress of those changes could have allowed an infection to set in. If Izak hasn't had a vet exam and blood work in these 2 months, that would be my first suggestion. If the results are good, then I would presume he might be caught up in sexual hormones. There is information in this thread that might help you get him more comfortable: viewtopic.php?t=44176&highlight=

I agree
You noble macaw needs to see a avian vet as soon as possible to rule out any health problems.

I have a good avian vet. I'm recovering from surgery, but my oldest boy (20) is Izak's favorite. He would come home and take the bird to the vet.
Thank you all for your help.
Jennifer and Izak, too :)
