There is such a vast variety of foods and feeding methods out there. Some people are staunch pellet lovers; some do a mix of seed, pellet, fruit, veggies, whatever.

What I feed my birds is sprouts, apple, orange, beet, soybeans, carrot, chile peppers, grapes, some celery (for crunch and moisture), pomegranates, jicama. They get a high quality seed mix that has anise, safflower, pine nuts, dried fruit, pistachios, cinnamon sticks, whatever. I mix it with tri-color spiral pasta. Yeah, they love peanuts; I give them the unsalted Hoody's from Costco (roasted, I feel it kills or cuts down on the risk of aflatoxins). Yes, not too many peanuts but they are fun to crunch up and rip apart. Walnuts, pistachios, filberts, almonds, pecans. This is an excellent time of year to stock up on fresh nuts and keep them in cold storage throughout the year - holiday time always brings out the nuts!

Here's a link to the Birdsnways article library. Some of the links are "broken" but a lot of them are still good and link to some GREAT articles on nutrition and variety.

My macaws eat every kind of fruit available. They love bananas, pineapples, apples, oranges, grapes, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, you name it, they'll eat it.

They also eat a ton of veggies as well. I make a mash for them and they demolish it.

Schreech's favorites are blueberries, blackberries, tangerines, and apple (not just any apple.. it has to be Fuji or Granny Smith) LOL! His favorite veggies are fresh carrots and peas. He loves corn on the cob! But he eats lots of different kinds of fruits and vegetables!
