Can anyone recommend a good and SAFE bird cage cleaner? I've always used DentaGene. It's expensive, but i think you get more value for your buck. You have to mix it with each use. But I've always been concerned about the fumes. I switched to Poop off, but I'm also concerned about the perfume scent even though it says it's safe. Anyone know more about Poop-off?

I heard vinegar is good. How would I use it?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Just mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spritz away. Let it soak a bit, usually you can just wipe the remaining crud off, but an abrasive plastic sponge is always nice too.

Personally, I just powerwash the cage with the perches in it every once in a while. If things get too bad in between, I will either spray it off with hot water (pays to have a laundry tub in your bird room), get out my abrasive plastic sponge, or stick whatever it is in the dishwasher for a round of cleaning.

Susan, it was I who asked about the Poop Off but my favourite poop cleaner is Doodle. It does not have a smell and I have a grey who poops on a slant so she hits every cage bar. I use vinegar and water to clean the rest of the cage but I need something for the dried on poop. It is also great for poop on the floor. Just spray it on, wait a couple of minutes and wipe off. Just Google "Doodle" and the web site should come up.

Wish I could power wash the cages, but I live in an apartment building.
