Jabber is partially integrated with the Up At Six Chats and we have plans to further embed it's abilities into the system. Right now, once you've registered on the Up At Six Jabber server, you can have any private messages or response to your posts come directly to your desktop. Jabber also allows you to collaborate with other aviculturists in real time either individually or in groups. You can setup and control your own private conferences, engage in voice conversations, share white boards and much more.
How to get started:
Up At Six uses Openfire by Ignite Realtime. Just about any XMPP client will work but due to it's ease of use and intuitiveness, we suggest using their Spark software. Spark is a java based client that is free, has many features and has been very reliable thus far. You can download the software here. Ignite offers clients available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
Once you've downloaded the software, setup is easy. Please note that your existing chats user name and password will not work, you must create a new account by following these steps.
Click on the Accounts button:

Enter a user name and password then enter jabber.upatsix.com for your Server:

Click the Create Account button then click Login.
Enjoy,
Damian
