I love sewing and was given Amy Butler's In Stitches last Christmas. In the book she has instructions to make a cat tunnel. I used these instructions to make a "cave" for Jewel. Here are my changes:
1. I reduced the length to 19" (finished 18"). I kept the width the same at 37" (36" finished) so Jewel can stand upright in it).
2. I added 3 tabs to the top (one on each side and one in the middle) so we could hang it.
3. I cut a piece of cardboard so she has something to stand on inside it (which I can replace if she goes in it).
It's too big for her cage, but it hangs nicely on the side of it. I'll post a picture soon. She was scared of it at first (she's scared of everything) but about 10 mins later I was in another room and heard her saying "pretty, pretty, pretty" and "pretty Jewel" and came to look and she was inside the tunnel preening and thinking about napping. This morning she's been running through it. I thought I'd share in case there are other sewers.
