Hello, I am sure there are a lot of opinions out there on which one is the best, but which one is the simpliest to put on? Or the quickest to get on?

Thanks
Alice

I, personally, would not reccomend the feather teather... it may work better for larger birds, but I don't know... I have tiels, and It slipps off of mine--so I really don't trust it. I have a flight suit though (otherwise known as birdie diaper) and it works quite well--bird is very secure. I, however, could not tell you about their leash... I use the one from the feather teather...

hope this helps,

The flight suit is also a birdy diaper... if the bird is not comfortable wearing it, it could pose a health hazard (in which case it would also be used improperly)

I have two flight harnesses that I use. It's easy to get on and off the bird I use it with (Charlie, a mitred conure - well easier to get on at least!). However, I wouldn't recommend the harness for anything smaller than a quaker or sun conure....

There's the aviator harness. I've seen pictures of them but I don't have one. They are said to be the best type of harness for birds...

There's also the Kaylor Collar Bird Harness which I don't really know anything about....

I have the Kaylor Collar body harness, I like it, it takes a little while to put in on, but there are no clips to break free etc... I bought it from Fred Bird and company. You slip on the piece that goes over the head, you don't have to worry about that piece getting tight on the birds neck, its one size, they have different sizes for different birds. Then it has a body strap that goes into a loop on the front and a loop on the back, while going under the wings. If your bird is tame and used to this type of handling, then this one is nice, you adjust the tightness around the birds body, and not the neck area. They come in about 10 different colors too lol

I have the Kaylor collar ones too. I also have the birdie daper. It really depends on your bird if they will accept a harness or flight suit. Do your resarch and read on the sites. There is a good write up on the Fred Bird site about how you should be able to handle your bird if you are going to try a harness.

Flights suits seem to me to be the most comfy and safe secure harness, if your bird was raised with it. It's hard to get a bird to accept a bird diaper after not being raised with it.

Harness

Postby swindiana57 on Wed Apr 09, 2008 6:20 am

We use the Aviator harness for both our macaws (b&g & GW). In fact I put it on the B & G last weekend for the first time. It took no time at all & she was in it & out around town for 3 hours or more & didn't seem to mind. There's a lot of good features with it as well. One piece construction, a very light lease that is elastic so if they fly they don't just come to a end & stop dead. It comes with a CD to show how to put it on. I would recommend watching that first. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Anyway that's what we use & won't use anything else once I tried it. Gave away my feather tethers!
