What color ringneck is this? PICS

Postby langstonjones on Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:35 am

Can anyone tell me about the color of the bird below. I know there are alot of different colors of this breed. I'm assuming its a male because of the ringed neck, but what color is it and what would be a good color to breed it to?

thanks

It looks like a turquoise to me. You would want to breed him to something that at least is split to blue or turquoise. If you have a blue split you will get both turquoise and blue babies as well as splits.

That is not figuring for any splits he may have.

He's beautiful! Image

I recently rehomed what was sold to his previous owner (deceased, that's why I had him) as a mauve, but he looked more grey-green to me. He just got his ring at 3yo!

Chrism, I would say that your bird is a turquoise grey. A grey-green is more of an olive color is how I would describe it.

What color IRN?

Postby houseoffeathersaviary on Thu Jan 31, 2008 8:19 am

Just looking at the frontal view, it looks like a turquoise. A couple of results are as follows using the Genetic Calculator 1.3?

1.0 turquoise(parblue)
x 0.1 grey(sf) blue
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue

With a grey hen:
1.0 turquoise(parblue)
x 0.1 grey(sf) green
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue)
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green /turquoise(parblue)
50.0% 0.1 green /turquoise(parblue)

It looks like a turquoise grey from the picture ,I have many in different shades and have bred many to different colors.Thank you Antoine
I breed mutation ringnecks and parrotlets, not one pair throw the same color and every bird I own is split. I have 50 pairs of IRN set up in the florida sun and fruits grown on property. I love it!
