Plus- if this were legit, why would you have to pay for the shipping and the supposed vet checks anyway?

I know Jessica, but I work midnights as a registered nurse in the ER, and this is very educational to see what new angles he will come up with. After 1 am I tend to have a lot of free time. I know I will never see the birds. Dont worry, he will never see one penny from me. I have done my research based on your advice an I know there is no way he has recieved any permits. I now know the only way I will ever get my next bird is through a reputable breeder or previous pet owner I can meet in person. Thanks for all your help and advice.

Ok, whew- I am very glad to hear that....And, nothing against you but I have counseled a few people in a situation similar and they still went and sent the money.

Hey, screw around with this guy...have some fun with him

May sound mean, but I am having a little fun with it. Would never do that with someone I thought was on the up and up. Hopefully others will read this and not get their hopes up with offers like this from these scum bags. I am just glad that there are honest, caring people like you all on this forum. It has been a great help.

Oh, I know that you wouldn't screw with a legit breeder. But, I think mpre people need to jerk around with these people. Maybe they will get the hint and finally crawl back under the rocks from which they came. Just so you know, I am not out to get more business for myself....I just want people in the US to realize what is going on and not be taken. Cause more and more people here in the US are losing trust in breeders due to these african a**h***s.

I know what you mean, this has really left a bad taste in my mouth. A legit breeder is probably the only route I will go for our next bird. I didnt think for one minute you were trying to drum up business. I believe you like so many others on this site really care for the birds and want to see bird lovers not get screwed over by these dirt bags. I know I asked you about one of your birds earlier and you did the appropriate thing by not advertising in the wrong forum. My mistake and I have a lot of respect for honest dealers such as yourself. Thanks again.

    SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!

We've had personal experience with this same ad and ploy thru a friend of ours. Towards the end he tried to convince her that if she didn't send the extra $600 for the shipping permit that the birds would sit in quarantine at the airport and starve to death!!!

It took everything we had to try and convince her that NO ONE was going to let 3 Hyacinths sit in an airport and starve to death!! She didn't believe us in the end, she was so upset over the "poor birds", that she sent the money and then never heard from him again!!!

PLEASE PLEASE don't fall for this!!!

This was an interesting thread until I read this. Wow, sounds so racist, Jessica, just when I was thinking you seemed like a good person, good breeder. Scammers and a**h***s can and do come from anywhere and everywhere. I'm offended for my African friends and hope you'll apologize.

You are correct.....I did not put that the way it was intended. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I am not racist in any way. However, the unfortunate part of all this is MOST of these people trying to scam us are based out of Africa. What I said was not directed at the general population of Africa. It was directed at the small percentage of people who are trying to scam hardworking Americans out of their money. I am aware that scammers are all over the place, even here. However, taken out of context from this specific thread, I realize it may have been offensive.

If anyone was offended by this, I do wholeheartedly apologize.

I have had several more emails from this scammer, and finally got tired of dealing with him and all of his obvious lies, and told him not to bother sending any more messages to me. I didnt think for one minute that Jessica was being racist. Her comment may have sounded generalized, but I have dealt with several scammers recently and all of them ended up being from Camaroon. This does not make me think that everyone from Africa is a theif or scammer, but does make you sceptical when you see a too good to be true ad from there. Thanks to everyone for your support and insight on this ordeal.
    Thanks,
    Phil

It is a very sad thing when people take advantage of bird lovers with big hearts and scam them like this.. I am so glad that you were able to see it early on and spare yourself a lot of heartache!

    scamming updates/check cashing

Postby alhee on Sun Apr 01, 2007 2:10 pm

You play with fire...you get burnt.

    1. The latest angle is that you get sent a check, which might be good,
except that the average recipient will need to deposit it in his account at the bank. Then, the cancelled check goes back to the scammer, and because it was deposited to (your) account...YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER IS NOW PRINTED ON THE BACK OF THE CHECK. THEN, THERE WILL BE WAYS TO ACCESS YOU ACCOUNT .

    2. or...an amount larger than you expected is sent to you, so you will then make out a check from your account and send that amount back.
OOPS...the scammer now has a copy of your check and your checking account.

Usually if it sounds to good- its run the other way and dont look back! And be very leery of the ones that want to push them on you.
