Postby greylover on Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:33 pm

My Greenwing loves to bathe with me. She just is a fish with feathers. Can she shower with me every day or will that be too tough on her feathers? Thanks for any input!

Hi My B&G will shower with me also. Some times she will get fully dripping wet , another time she will get like a little spray on her. I dont know if everyday is to much . Try it and see if she want to everyday. Somedays Josie dosent seem to want to get wet but love to go in and sing with me. Have fun Mark

Hi

How cool is that!!!! My macaw, Jackers, loves the shower, too, but he prefers to go in on his own. Maybe in the future he will come in with me - little by little. I am not sure whether every day is a problem or not - why not try every other day??? Just to be on the safe side until you can find out more information.

I'm jelous! Calypso will only let me mist the air from about 2 foot away without freaking out. He's slowly getting better, it used to send him in a total panic anytime he saw a spray bottle or the shower.

when Josie was young she would sit on the shower door and would watch me shower and would get excited as time went on. with the exhast fan on and me singing. Finally she jumped in. so I would just give it time. Ive done this with other birds to in the past

Hi
Where your bird came from could determine how often it would like a bath. Birds from a tropical rain forest are used to baths everyday and their feathers are made to deal with moisture. Birds from Australia, a dessert, would not be used to everyday baths.
I have heard it is not wise to house birds together from different continents for the very reason of frequency of bathing. Macaws can develop asthma from Cockatoos because of the dander they produce.

Anyway Petri, my a B&g likes to be on the shower door everyday. About every 2 or 3 weeks she gets a complete soak. She likes the water temperature about the time I complain the hot water heater is giving out.
