You need to remember this is like a 5 yr old child being placed in another home. You are going to have to slow down and let this bird adjust. Do not have high expectations or think this bird will preform, rather think what can you do to make him happy and feel safe, and loved. He needs to do things as he feels secure. Rushing him to adjust just makes them uneasy and unhappy. Do little more each day, they do have days where they just want to be spectators and watch and not be the show, if you know what I mean. I hope this isnt you first macaw? Its one thing to buy a baby and learn together its a whole new ball game with rehomming. Go slow no regrets, rush it spend all your time trying to fix it.
