I appreciated the article you posted.
I lived in Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1966, and the experience had
a terrible effect on MY health. We had soft-coal burning stoves
in the smaller buildings, and hard-coal furnaces in the barracks.
I thought that it was the air OUTSIDE that was polluted, but I now
realize that the heated air from the furnaces did its own share of damage.
Many of us "modern Americans" have no idea of what people
used to live through, and that some people still have to live in those
    conditions.
By the way, there were VERY FEW birds where I lived, compared to
the areas just a few miles away ...just a few starlings. No crows or blackbirds.

I didn't think about the low humidity in the winter until I read that article. If most people are like me they bathe there birds less in the winter not wanting their birds to catch a chill. After reading that article I made a point to start bathing my birds more. I also added a humidifier. What I've noticed in the past couple of weeks is they are alot happier.

We just air the house out once a week. Open the doors and windows to let fresh air in . I live in Oregon ,we dont get real cold weather but lots of rain. We have wood heat and I put a pan of water on the stove to help keep up the humidity. I'm a big beleiver in showers for my birds. We try for once a week. The birds love it. Its always good to post helpful info. I was aware of this issue but not every one is Thanks
Always love you bird as you love yourself or more.
