Finger chewing GW

Postby mainmusic on Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:00 pm

My 2 yr old GW wants tto chew on my fingers all the time. Most of the time not hard enough to hurt but can get very annoying. He know the word no but I hate to wear him out on it also. Any help?

We shouldn't necessarily be discouraging them to NOT chew, but rather to NOT chew on us.... such as with dog training... the best way to teach them not to chew on something that they shouldn't is to take away the object they are chewing on, maybe give a firm "NO", then give them an APPROPRIATE toy to chew on instead and say "okay!"

Basically, if your GW starts chewing on you, give him some chew toys or foot toys instead and play with them yourself!

Hi Their My B&G Josie is 2 . When she wants her head scratched , she loves to chew on my fingers also. I just pull them out and keep scratching her head and she goes for them again. Her eyes are closed alot of times when she is enjoying the head scratch.I tell her easy , you have to be easy. I try to distract her with something else if she persist.I dont tell her no .I say silly bird or something like that and scruff her head. or push her away. Just keep it light and easy. Josie also loves to chew on my cloths. She has learned if I have nice cloths no chewing .If its sunday and Im watching football and I have an old football jersy or sweetshirt on its ok.They are smart and can learn but make it like a game. Ill be around if you want to talk . Mark
Always love you bird as you love yourself or more.
