When I am ready for a macaw I might get an unweaned or weaned whatever the situation is, because my parents are experienced handfeeders. They have dealt with African Greys and a couple of Macaws. I would definatly need their help though..

That's a great idea.

I would be interested in pictures of the cage if you could get 'em...

Certainly having your parents back in this will help you out in the long run. If you don't have your parents help then this would be a worse situation. Your best bet is to still go with a weaned chick over an unweaned do to the complications of handraising.

Certainly volunteering at places (rescues, shops, bird clubs, breeders, etc) will certainly help you become a better parront in the long run as you learn how to properly care for the birds themselves.

There are too many SCAMS out there targeting unsuspecting buyers.I would also be careful about buying inexpensive cages because you don't know where they are made. It's now coming out that a lot of these cages are being made in China and contain high levels of lead and zinc which are toxic to our beloved FIDS.Basically you get what you pay for whether it be an inexpensive cage or FIDS.In the long run nothing is FREE.You still have to pay for the vet bill and if it turns out to be sick you pay for their care and if it turns out that it is beyond repair. You pay with your heartache if it should cross over the rainbow. No matter what you are buying BUYER BEWARE!
