Hello all, i am considering buying a pair of Illiger's Macaws. Does anyone have one for a pet or know anything about them? Are they as noisy as Severe's , same size as SEvere's? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have Hahn's Mini's, I just love those guys! Would like to hear more about yellow collars too. I have heard good and bad about them.......Thanks a lot!
Kathy

Hi, yes, I love that about the Hahn's. My babies are always little snuggle bugs! They are little darlings! Thanks for replying. Do you have just one Hahn's? How old is he? What kind of pet is he? I have been raising them for 2 years so don't have any feedback from anyone with one that has reached sexual maturity. Some birds get nasty when they reach that age.

    Thanks,
    kathy

My hahns is 8. I only have the one hahns. He is a one person bird. My fault, I didn't know about socialization. He is cuddly, talkative, playful and opinionated (if a bird can be that,) The only hormanal problem I've had, is that he plucks. Some years worse than others. Now he just does his under feathers, He doesn't look plucked. Some of his feathers look chewed. He also plucks my senegal's head feathers. But I love him!

Hi, thank you all for the information about your birds. I do raise Hahn's, which I think are great little birds. The Illiger's and yellow collars sound like they make a great pet too! I love their size and coloring. I would love to have a pair of each of the minis! Thanks again for your input and the pic!

Birds can sometimes be the opposite of what is generally said about them so it is wise to visit different birds and make a choice based on your own interactions with them, etc. Birds are individuals just like us. They may all be a certain breed, etc, but they are still different from each other. They will have simularities, but they have there own little set of quirks, likes, and dislikes, attitudes, etc.
