Rosey the rescue

Postby Zeus on Sun Jan 21, 2007 9:41 pm

Here's a pic of the back of Rosey. She was a rescue bird that we picked up this week. Her owner will be away for a long time for murder. She is a Ruby Macaw....Greenwing/Scralet cross. You can see some of the orange in her wings from her Scarlet side. Her head is small like the Scarlet but her body is large like the Greenwing. So far she has adapted well and will let me do almost anything with her.

I like the challenge to return a rescue to a sweetie again but the screamers and pluckers are a little more than we can deal with at this time...lol She’s a great bird just had some health and trust issues. The trust part is changing fast, a lot faster than I expected! We are to the vets in a few minutes to see about her health issues. Nothing major but they need to be checked. Looks like she'll be with a lot of years so got to keep her happy. Dave

I agree with you! We have been lucky that all our rescues have just required trust, calcium and a multi vitamin- all tests have come back with good results. Glad to know there are more like us out here. It is so up-lifting to see these neglected, abused birds do complete turn arounds- and even well cared for make adjustments fast. They sence when they are cared for.
