Gypsy's new home

Postby Buddy on Sun Jan 14, 2007 9:11 pm

We picked up Gypsy, a greenwing macaw, from the sweetest people tonight. She is very sweet and very intelligent. LJ and I feel very lucky to have her in our family. Here she is stepping up for us for the first time when we took her out of the carrier when we got her home. :D She has quite the bite when she doesn't want to go into her cage

Greenwings RULE! Just gotta love a parrot that could rip a finger off of your hand but just shows love and is so sweet. Zeus lets us play with him any where. He too is just a big baby. How old is Gypsy? We got Zeus at 5 months, he had just weaned. That was just a year ago.

Gypsy seems to loves me so far but not LJ yet. LJ is a little timid so far but I am sure they will be friends eventually.

Zeus our Greenwing will always test people. When he learns the you are the flock leader he will give in and not try it as often. They love to show timid people whos boss, just like a little kid.

LJ got Gypsy to step up twice this morning and was very proud. She wanted to post but her account is locked for some reason. Hoipe the admins can get it straightened out.

Just a curiosity question. Are you taking all of these recently acquired birds in to your home for permanent sanctuary or going to try and adopt them out? Apologies if you stated an answer to this in a prior post as I have not read through all of them.

They will remain with us permenately. We have been very lucky to have them all really adapt and love being here. We work very hard keeping them healthy, happy and content.

I know and understand that your heart is big but have you established a maximum number of birds that you are able to care for?

Are the macaws kept in the same room as they grey and cockatoos?
