There was a fella a while back, Larry was his name. He'd been a long-time member of Tooville. Sometimes he was sort of opinionated, sometimes he got into tiffs with others on the board. But Larry was always all about the birds and what was best for them. Until the end of his life, Larry fought to get a heinous breeding facility closed down. He lost everything. His health declined, he had to give up his beloved birds, he lost his home, but he went down fighting. He may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but in the end, he sacraficed everything for the birds.
My point is: you do what you do for the birds. Sometimes people judge you, sometimes people express some unkind opinions. Sometimes ego gets in the way but in the end, you do what you do for the birds. That's what it's all about. That's all that matters. The people can take care of themselves. They can fight their own battles and fight amongst themselves. The birds can't. And that's what you do for them. I cannot sit in judgement of someone whose heart is in the right place, of people who do what I cannot, could not, maybe would not or be afraid to do to rescue or save these magnificent creatures. The birds you rescue don't give a hang what other people might say about you. They do know that they are safe, fed, warm, loved and protected.
What happened to the breeding facility that Larry died trying to shut down? I think they're still fighting the fight. But he made them sit up and listen. He made a difference. And so do you.
