Don't get down on yourselves Buddy and wife. Rescue makes a very heavy heart when you can only do as much as you can and you wish you could save them all. Everyone's dream is to win the lotto and be able to save them all.

You've got big, good hearts.

Joanne

True, I am just losing interest inposting here if all we get are PMs telling us we are wrong.

I'm confused by the conversation you are having with each other. Are you both involved in getting Buzzy out of there or strangers who've each done similar rescues and are talking about your separate experiences?

Jhassell, you seemed miffed about my reply that your home might not be the best place for the second bird to stay. I was replying to your post about not knowing what course to take and being unable to pay $1,000 for him. What I meant was that the better plan might be to find someone else who'd take him. And I said it here on the chat, not via PM. What's wrong in what you're trying to do, according to the people who're PMing you?

This is a very slow forum. Please don't think the small number of responses you've gotten means there's this big crowd of members reading along and disapproving in silence. There's just a little handful of us here. No need to pick fights among friends.

Im not miffed, and I do not pick fights. I ignore people who try and belittle others for doing a good deed. I dont care if anyone disaproves, I can rest well at night knowing what we do is right. Not anywhere did I say you pm'd there were quiet a few that did and shared Our "wrong doing'. Thats life always critics and those who find fault in everything- I just thankgod we dont. Online life just that online- I work to hard to worry about chat room bs.

First, this thread has nothing to do with Buzzy. Buzzy is a great birg that just needed some full time attention and couldn't get it at his old home anymore. He was well cared for and loved by his previous owners. Not sure why you are assuming what we are talking about. Yes LJ is my wife. We both do what we can for all animals. Not looking for your approval for anything. We do whats right for the animals and birds whether its what you think is right or not. we don't mind taking in more birds if they need a very loving home.

Let me tell you a story

Postby jjoe on Tue Jan 09, 2007 8:41 pm

There was a fella a while back, Larry was his name. He'd been a long-time member of Tooville. Sometimes he was sort of opinionated, sometimes he got into tiffs with others on the board. But Larry was always all about the birds and what was best for them. Until the end of his life, Larry fought to get a heinous breeding facility closed down. He lost everything. His health declined, he had to give up his beloved birds, he lost his home, but he went down fighting. He may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but in the end, he sacraficed everything for the birds.

My point is: you do what you do for the birds. Sometimes people judge you, sometimes people express some unkind opinions. Sometimes ego gets in the way but in the end, you do what you do for the birds. That's what it's all about. That's all that matters. The people can take care of themselves. They can fight their own battles and fight amongst themselves. The birds can't. And that's what you do for them. I cannot sit in judgement of someone whose heart is in the right place, of people who do what I cannot, could not, maybe would not or be afraid to do to rescue or save these magnificent creatures. The birds you rescue don't give a hang what other people might say about you. They do know that they are safe, fed, warm, loved and protected.

What happened to the breeding facility that Larry died trying to shut down? I think they're still fighting the fight. But he made them sit up and listen. He made a difference. And so do you.
