Hi,
I am the proud new owner of a young Severe. He will be 1 year old next month. He sat in the pet shop for some time because he is a little skittish & would try to bite anyone that touched him except for the owner/breeder.
I have had him 2 days now & we are getting along pretty well. He will step up on me & if he threatens to bite I just ignore it & keep asking for him to step up. This usually works.
I was just wondering if any of you other Severe owners had any suggestions for me on these macaws. I have previously had a B&G, but sadly, lost her to egg binding. I really wanted another macaw (actually wanted a Red Front, but couldn't find one close enough that I could afford!!) I have a friend that is a breeder of the larger macaws that warned me against getting a severe, but I find them so cute & have heard about others that have had great experiences with them. Just wondering if all the rumors about them having a dr. jeckly & mr. Hyde personality is true & if so, what do YOU do about it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
