sick question

Postby vicinyoface on Wed Jan 27, 2010 5:19 pm

so i have a question that i think is pretty important...

I'm a little sick right now... sore throat mild fever etc... now obviously i don't want to handle my macaw as he is pretty young and i just always hear they can catch a sickness. On the other hand, i don't want to leave him in his cage for a week till i get better. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep him occupied or a safe way to give him some human contact with me?
Sincerely,
Vic

If it's just a common cold or something minor, then there's very little chance that your macaw could get sick from you. That said, it's still a good idea to wash your hands before handling him and don't give him any kisses while you are sick.

The only time you would need to worry is if you (or him) have a zoonotic disease.
