I own a B & G & a GW but neither sway. Both do bob up & down & the B & G loves to swing on her swing.

My B+G sways all the time, usually with her it is because she is excited (breakfast time!) wants to be picked up (followed by extended foot) or when she hears a song she likes (if you sing to her).

The more you get to know your bird you will learn what his quirks are and what this behavior might mean for him. He is certainly a beautiful bird! I hope you have lots of fun with him, macaws are an absolute joy!

    Hey

This isn't my main forum to post on - but mom and dad have a GW that sways a lot. whenever he's excited or sees something he wants he gives the old side to side sway. My Caique does the same thing (i call it bird brain overload) :D :D

I know this thread's a little old now but I'd thought I'd say something about the 'dancing.'

It sounds like nothing more than a behavioural quirk. Max, our Blue and Gold has several different little sways and dances she uses to get our attention, from head banging to rocking back and forward while singing and another one where she runs sideways along to one edge of her perch and stretches a leg out before running the other way and doing the same with the other leg. (I call this one Parrot Tai-Chi)
