Crazy Macaws

Postby swindiana57 on Mon Jun 15, 2009 5:53 am

I have a pretty dumb question for someone that has had birds as long as I have. However until now I have never really had two that lived together. First a little background, they are about 2.5 yrs & 3 yrs old respectfully & have lived together for the last year to year & a 1/2. Any way my B&G & GW will grab each other by the beak, with their beak & kinda bob up & down. They both do it to each other. It doesn't seem to hurt & in fact they seem to allow it & enjoy it. So what's going on in their bird brains.

It sounds like they are simulating feeding each other, like parents feed the babies?

That's exactly what it is. Just been a while since I had seen it.
