I guess what I am trying to ask is....for example.....I have a Fischer's Lovebird....If I wanted to get another Lovebird....would I have to get another Fischer's or can I get a Peach Faced to put in the same cage?

I have heard you can mix species of Lovevbirds....but have also been told that you can't because they would fight.

Can somebody please clarify this for me?

I have a Peachie male that absolutely adores a Fischer's male and they get along very well. Yes, this can be done but you have to be careful of gender. I, personally, would only do this with same gender lovies. Since 2 hens are not usually compatible, that would leave males as the only option.

It depends on the individuals, too. I have a big, athletic peachface in a cage with a tinier, blue masked terror. The big lovie, Ikie, lets the little masked (Blooper) be in charge. When Blooper picks on Ikie, Ikie is big and strong enough to protect himself. Then they settle in and cuddle. They are both male. If Ikie were smaller, I don't think they could be together. When they are out flying around the house, Blooper is always the leader, Ikie always follows.
