Lovebirds changing color

Postby foothills on Wed May 07, 2008 2:22 pm

Anybody knows why some lovebirds change the color. A lady asked me if I know why a pair of lutino and green peach face would change colors and have orange color splatches on them. They look pied. The green male looks strange with the orange color on him. Is like somebody painted them with a paint brush.
Can it be the diet?
Please any info is appreciated.

There is no clear understanding as to what it's caused by... although many may believe it's due to diet and/or a bad liver. The feathers will either grow in red or orange... you can find out more info here....

Aloe detox was used on a red suffusion lovebird and was said to help the bird grow back regular feathers. Getting a blood panel done to check liver and kidneys may be a good idea.
