4 foot x 5 foot Cage = ? lovebirds Sell one breeder, or buy?

Postby Adell on Wed Feb 06, 2008 11:59 am

I just bought a 2nd hand (but very clean) 4x5 foot cage. Its got about 100 doors  Ok not that many but lots of them. Two of the doors are on the two sides so that I can attach breeder boxes. It has small bar spacing.

I got a few toys in it but no stands yet. I am wondering if it would be best to put my two pairs of non hand tame together, or put in my three pairs of breeders?

I have a stand with three cages on it now. The cages are split in two so each pair has 15x18x18. If I move the breeders in to the large cage I can put the other two sets in a 30x18x18 cages. Or even if I put the two non hand tame ones in large cage I can put the breeders in the 30x18x18 cage other then one.

Ok so will the breeders bred in a large cage, or would only the top pair breed?

I am planning on building a outside temp aviary for this summer. Mostly moving the large and small cages outside but covered with a sun tent and fenced to keep out cats and other outside pest. When would it be safe to move them outside? I am in Canada so its not warm all the time :)

Last question. I have a female that had a mate, but he pasted away. I am thinking it would be best to sell her to a pet home where she can be babied and not have anymore. She is hand tame. Or would it best to get her an other mate? She seems to be doing great. She is a 05 so three years old this year.

Please give me your thoughts. Thanks.

Here is a photo of the new large cage.
