Leg bands

My Fischers babies are 9 and 6 days old. I tried to put a leg band on the oldest chick but it fell right off. What is the best age to band the babies?

I usually band my Peachfaced babies between 9-12 days, depending on the size of the baby's foot. Fischer's babies have smaller feet so you probably need to wait until they are between 12-15 days old. You may find that you put the band on, only to find that they've managed to slip out of it. I've lost quite a number of bands in nesting material as a result of this!
