Postby CodyGuetzow1 on Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:20 pm

I was wondering if anyone has seen these and how much do the go for looking to maybe setup some pairs in the next year or so.

Lutino is a very pretty mutation in the Fischer's species. I love the orange head against the bright yellow feathering.

In Fischer's, Lutino is a weak mutation so I would not breed Lutino to Lutino. Find a Green Fischer's split for ino and pair him/her with a visual Lutino. That will produce Lutino Fischer's, as well as Green Fischer's split for ino each time the non-visual does not pass the ino gene.

Since ino in Fischer's is a simple recessive gene, you can get 2 Green Fischer's that are split for ino and get Lutinos that way, too.

Price/pr depends where you are located.

Lutino Fischer's are fairly hard to find still. Specially pure ones. I have only two lutinos and two akbinos setup with splits. Ino factor birds should only be paired with splits in order to maitain feather quality and size of the bird. Not to mention internal issues. If you are lucky you can find a lutino or albino fischer for less that $150 each these days. Genarally, most breeders want like $200 per bird.
In my humble opinoin, lutino Fischer's are are among the best looking lovebirds out there. Now the opalines are the big thing and many sell for a lot more than a Fischer's does. Even though they are easier to breed.
Here are a couple of pics of a good quality lutino and albino.
