New to group...have one question.

Postby J'sgal on Mon Oct 08, 2007 1:43 pm

Hi all...first post here. I just acquired 2 lovebirds about 5 mo old now, and not at all sure about their sex, however when we let them out for free flight the other day, they both landed on our ceiling fan blades and my olive peach faced looked like s/he was getting into the mating position. S/he spread her wings out for the other to mount. Do both sexes do this or could this one be a female? Thanks. :?:

Both sexes can do this, but more than likely it is a female. Females will sometimes mount males, females mount females and males mount males, but it is more common for females to assume this breeding position.
