Postby The Feather Hut on Mon Feb 05, 2007 5:01 pm

Can anyong tell me what species of lovebirds these are? I was told they were dark blue and dark blue dilute, but they look black and grey to me. Thanks!

These look like Blue Black masked mutations, I would assume they are called "slate" or "mauve". Anyone else know?

Some people call the Double Dark factored blue series masks Slates. I personally would call them just what they are DDF (Double Dark Factor) Blue and DDF Blue Dilute. Do you breed have more birds like these? I haven't seen any DDF Dilute blues around here. I'm envious! I have the Violet (not colbal) masks, dilute blue split ino, and one single DDF Blue. I LOVE the eye rings! :) BTW you have great looking birds!

For some reason I could not see the pictures. Can you email them to me ? I have slatesin mask and fischers, you can see them here http://www.wildlifecontrolservice.com/lovebirds.htm . My email is dany1973@bellsouth.net . Would love to see your birds. Slates are hard to come buy, if you're going to breed them you should choose a partner carefully.

I figured out the picture posting. Heres a "slate mask". In other words, a double dark factor blue mask wich you get by breeding two dark factor or cobalt masks. Hope this helps.
