Love bird color help

Postby bamababee on Thu Dec 14, 2006 11:50 am

hey all, i wasn wondering if there is anyone out there that is willing to help with some color identifying for me? I bought what i thought were a pair, they have since after dna sexing turned out to be 2 males, i also at the same time bought what he told me to be 2 3month old hens, am not sure they are they age or not, at what age does the black on the beaks completely dissappear? i do have pics of 3 of the 4, and i am also curious as to which of the younger 2 ( if they are indeed hens) should i put with one of the males? i am presuming he is a dbl dark factor white face, although those terms are still new to me. Could it be a whiteface slate? and do i only put another whiteface with it? thanx so much, anyone caring to look at the pics. plz let me know and i will email privately cyd

As far as the black color on the beaks- My babies tend to lose the black after about 2-3 months or so, sometimes sooner. As far as putting the females with the males, whatever combo you decide, it's really up to you. I'm still new at the genetics of PF lovies but it depends on what colors you are looking for in the babies and what splits your birds have. You should post some pictures of them. I just recently put together a pair that consists of a DF seasplit slate male and a medium seagreen series cinnamon Australian violet (looks like a creamino with a violet rump). I was told they would have beautiful blue series babies, which I haven't been able to get yet. Good luck with your endevour!
