Lovebird throwing up

Postby whitleyboo on Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:08 pm

My female lovebird was throwing up seeds this evening. First, she would act like she was regurgitating food. Then she would shake her head and seeds came flying out of her beak. This went on for about 10 minutes that I know of. She looks fine otherwise. This was the first episode of this that I know of. Should I be concerned?

She had some millet earlier which she is not used to eating. I only give it to them once in a while. Could this have caused the throwing up?

Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

If the millet was contaminated with some kind of fungus, I can see this happening, but that would be worrying to me. Has she thrown up since? If so, I'd take her to the vet.
