Blk masked violet lovebird

Postby canarylady3 on Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:45 pm

Hi,
I'm new to the LB chat.
Back in June I bought a unsexed not hand fed Blk masked violet LB. I just set for a DNA sexing kit. But, I think the LB might be a hen.
Once I find out the sex I would like to get a mate.
My question is: Do you breed violet to violet. If not, want color do you recomend I purchase to get violet babies?
If I have to bred violet to violet to get violet and it is a hen does any one have a not hand fed male blk masked male for sale in Va? :D
Thanks,
canarylady3 in Central Va.

Hi and welcome to Lovebird Chat!

Breeding Violet to Violet in the Masked species is not a good thing. You can end up with rough feathering. Instead, breed Violet to Cobalt Blue and then breed the babies to other Violets.
