Birds and Staph Infections

Postby MSLoveBirds on Tue Mar 17, 2009 2:34 pm

Do lovebirds carry the bacteria that can cause staph infections? My doctors are having a difficult time determining how I keep getting a staph infection. Thanks for any answers.

While birds can get Staph infections, it's not the same type that humans can get. You can get Chlamydia from your birds and they can get it from you but that's not true with Staph infections.

Have your doctor check the Merick Vet manual for diseases and infections that cross between humans and birds
