Hi everyone!
A mature female blackcapped lory (erythrothorax) was stolen from an outdoor flight in western WA on Thursday Nov. 15th. She was on eggs and the thief stole her and the eggs right from the nestbox. The eggs were not fertile and they did not take the male, which tells me the thief is inexperienced. The bird is about 8 years old, named "Iris", and is very friendly. She talks quite a bit and gets excited/angry when you say "Peter". She is banded and microchipped. Vets in the area have/are being alerted. The bird's band is from Sharon Casmier (sp?), who used to reside in the Seattle area, and is now in CA. This bird is a very picky eater and will die soon if not recovered. Please, everyone, keep you ears perked and your eyes peeled. It is likely that the thief will try to "unload" the bird immediately. Please forward this to as many people as possible.
