Hello, I am new to the board and also new to trying to breed african Grey congos.
I paired a set a couple of years ago. She laid 6 eggs but of course they were not fertile.
The female did not belong to me so that was a loss.
Now I have my own birds and not understanding what went on with them ,I thought I am going to try again.
My first time... I noticed that the male could not complet the copulation. He had a broken wing that I learned about sometime later. I gave him to my nephew.
My new pair had 3 eggs and those too were infertile. I realize after viewing them on camera he is afraid to mount her.
At first he was afraid to go into the nest box and they would feed and do all the things greys do when they love each other.
He has over come his fear of the box and spends time with her in there. Still he does not know how to mount her. He trys maybe some day he will learn.
I have read about so many have infertile eggs. I wonder if they are like my pair. either can't mount or mount and can't hold on long enough to complete the act.
