my grey female..

Postby mystikgreys on Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:35 pm

my female breeder seems to have a cold/respitory infection and she has not had any eggs in a very long time. Thought at first the egg thing was because malehad injured her beak and it grew crooked, took her to vet and he trimmed it a few times till it grew straight again...still no eggs and they are doing their thing quite often.. any suggestions?

Have her surgically sexed by Dr McDonald (he visits your area regularly) and while he is there look for abnormalities in her reproductive process.

Doesn't matter.........................................

Can still have her S/S because it allows Dr McDonald to look inside BY laparoscopy, this is the only way to tell what is going on inside.

These are the procedures (protocols) covered by Dr McDonald

This is why- paper written by Dr McDonald

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF AVIAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS by Scott E McDonald DVM

http://www.scottemcdonald.com/pdfs/Arti ... ystems.pdf

(an excellent read if you want to know what is going on inside your bird during this period (reproductive)

He is "Hands Down" the expert in avian vet care. And you can use his services because he travels to your area.

Thankyou very much for the links to those articles. they were very interesting, and shed some light on a few things to try before having to go to the extreme of making the call to the doctor. I only have 1 pair of breeders so i will try somethings first. Again thank you..

I wish you didn't feel that calling an avian vet was an extreme measure. Sigh ...

It is extreme because it stresses her out so much, she is very wild. she freaks out if you look at her, so yes, it is extreme.
