?'s about Bourke's

Postby kansascathy on Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:56 pm

All you bourke experts out there. Can u tell me what I would get with a male Lutino/Rubino and a Lutino Hen? Would I get both visual or splits? Will they be female or males? I have a pair on 5 eggs right now. Dont know if they are fertile. I dont want to bother them. So maybe in a couple weeks I have some babies. Yea!! :D Just wondering what I'll get.

    Rubino is essentially a rosa/rosy lutino. The male cannot be a visual lutino split rosy and lutino... unless you are speaking of lutino and rubino as two different males....

    Male Lutino x Female Lutino
    100% Lutinos of both sexes

    Male Rubino x Female Lutino
    100% Lutino split Rosy Males
    100% Rubino Females

    Male Lutino split Rosy x Female Lutino
    50.0% Lutino split Rosa Males
    50.0% Lutino Males

    50.0% Lutino Females
    50.0% Rubino Females

    Hope this answers your questions! I'm not an expert in bourke mutations (hardly know them, actually!) but I got some of this info from GenCalc for Bourkes.

    No, I have Lutino males that are split to Rubino. I just wanted to know if I will get both male and females in both mutations. I use the calculator also (when I can get it to come up) and it just has ino not Lutino and Rubino. I was told they are split to Rubino. And the guy I got them from I'm sure he wouldn't lie about it. I've been breeding birds for about 10 years. I'm just starting to get into mutations on Bourkes. They are my favorite! I will send you pictures of my males.

    I replied to your e-mail. Does it make any more sense?

    Rubino = Rosa + Lutino

    Rosa aka Rosy aka Opaline
