Not sure what mutation Bourkes baby is

Postby MyZooTwo on Mon Aug 20, 2007 10:13 pm

Hi,
I have a young bourkes here who is just feathering out that I just have no idea what to classify it as. It is a blue rumped, but also has green and almost an orangish red (photos below) on it's rump area. It also has a lot of muted yellow and green in its wings, a rather unique little bird.
Any help you could give me at all would be very appreciated.
Thank you and take care...
Cathy

I raise lots of those; they are just Rosy Bourkes with lots of extra coloring, some people call them Rainbows. If it's a hen she will keep most of that color, males tend to color up to be mostly Rosy.

Here is a web site with all the bourke mutations, and how to produce them.
