Red Factor Canary

Postby Christyb on Tue Oct 07, 2008 4:45 pm

Hello,
I have a beautiful red factor canary and from looking at online pics, she looks rose frost. My question is, what kind of male should I be looking for in order for them to have babies that look like her, or similar?
Thanks so much for any information!
Christy

You diffently want to breed her with another red factor. If you breed here with a yellow or something then that will dilute the red factor gene. It sounds like you hve a frosted hen so an Intence male would be good. That is a bird where the feather color goes all the way to the end of the feather so he looks solid color around the neck. If you live in Indiana or plan to travel here. I have lots to chose from. I could set you up with a nice male. I have 22 males to chose from. :D

Thanks Rosie, for the info. I'll have to keep looking around CO, maybe chances would be good in Denver. All my family is in Illinois, but I won't be back for a while, anyways, unfortunately!
