Half and Half or Gynandromorph Gouldians

Postby christie on Sun Dec 02, 2007 12:54 am

I was researching the different mutations of Gouldians in anticipation of my new FID purchase in a couple of weeks and came across these birds. Here is a link talking about them and showing photos: http://users.skynet.be/fa398872/engoulm10.htm

Have any of you seen these birds in person? I'm assuming they are really rare. Of course, my husband thinks they are very striking and likes the coloring of the "yellow" head/black head bird.
Owned by birds since 1988.

I would assume the Gynandromorph's could be considered rare since they're a freak of nature, but most breeders wouldn't want them since they're sterile.
I've seen the half-sided and think some of the Gynan's would take a trained eye to recognize.

The black headed goulds and the 'yellow' (they were often referred to as orange when I raised them) are fairly common, but their price is a little higher than the red head. I was never a fan of the 'yellow' since they appear to be a washed-out version of the red head.
