question about zebra finch

i have had an aviary of finch for about a year now. i noticed today that one of my young females has feathers missing from her head...is this normal? will the other finch gang up on her? do i need to seperate her from the aviary till the feathers grow back? is this something that will spread to the other finches? i am new to birds, i want do the right thing for my babies they are like my kids spoiled rotten...lol. thankyou in advance for any info

More than likely, another bird is plucking her. It could be an aggressive bird, or she may be ill which will cause the other birds to pick on her. If she has a mate, he may be doing it, but most breeding/mating plucking occurs around the neck area.

If you're not able to watch her during the day to see who's picking on her, and when, then I suggest removing her to a separate cage and observing her.
