Living Up To My Name

Postby LttlFeathers on Fri Jul 06, 2007 2:01 pm

I got a pair of normal Zebra finches today! A pet store where I worked before I got cancer, called me, and the male came in missing a toe and they can't sell him. They bring me birds they can't sell and I fix them and adopt them out. So, I bought a hen and a cage and set the kids up!
I really didn't want normals, but I'm excited! LOL. So is my poodle. She used to Mother all of my baby parrots that I was hand feeding. When I was breeding finches and canaries, she didn't understand why she couldn't love of them too. And here we ago again! lol. But it seems VERY normal to have Little Feathers in the house again.

Congrats, Little Feather!

I can relate to the reluctance to take in the zeebies. About a month ago, we cleared our aviary of the zebras, as they were just too prolific and disturbing the other birds' nesting. But kindhearted fool that I am, I looked at Bob, my Florida Fancy, and thought "Oh, surely it won't hurt to keep just good old Bob," so I took him out of the sale cage and put him back in the aviary. But then I saw him perched on a limb all by himself and thought, "Oh gee, he's gonna be so lonely, one little hen can't hurt," so I went and got one of the hens out of the sale cage and put her in the aviary. And they looked so happy....

That was about a month ago. Our two zebra finches are now six. ROLFMAO

Cheers and best of health to you!
