Anyway, I've always wanted an aviary that the kids could go outside and in at night. I live next to woods now, and have coons, possums, deer, bugs, and an occasional coyote. And the woods are small! The bug thing, meaning skeeters, was my worry. We already had a wild bird tested positive for West Nile, this year.
I'm really enjoying your forum.
I am sorry about your cancer. I hope its a speedy recovery.
A mosquito type net/mesh over the aviary will work even regular screen sold to keep bugs out works and they sell huge amounts in Lowes.etc.
If you decide to bring birds in at night a large type cage on wheels, etc should be nice to.
I began building mine already but if we get a hurricane I plan to net them bring them in and put them in another cage (smaller ofcourse just till storm passes- infact thats the one I am building now as want that one done first).
Lady I spoke to in Florida bird club had her love bird aviary built by a contractor. It has stood up against the worse hurricane but I don't want to risk it.
I agree birds outside look great that was one of my main reasons leaving the North moving to south granted other states like CA with no hurricanes would have been better.
Lots neat finches I noticed some fantastic types sold in this site .On youtube.com they have nice finches and aviaries just search for bird aviary or finches, etc
