Society Finches Foster Eggs and Babies of Strawberries?

Postby BunchOBirds on Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:54 am

Here's a question for all you...
My Strawberry finches are laying eggs in everything but their nests. I was thinking about pulling the eggs and putting them with my societies to foster them... but didn't know if they would... so what do you folks think I should do?

My question would be why do you think they are NOT nesting properly? When my guys finally decided to breed, they were soooo protective of the nest & their babies -- I'd be curious what's up with yours. How are they housed?

Re societies, I don't know why they would accept eggs of one set of "cousins" but not another. There's a bit of a size differential -- our strawberry chicks are SO SMALL! But it'd be worth a shot, I'd think.

Cheers,
Pat

Oops... I was thinking Star Finches, but typed Strawberry finches. LOL. Sorry, reread my first post and replace "strawberry" with Star.
