birds getting along

i bought a jenday conure over the weekend and i have a cockatiel that i've had about 4 months and there cages are side by side, and was wondering if i got them both out in a room together, if they would get along?

They may like each other, they may not like each other at all, or they might only tolerate each other. You just never know. I know someone with a female Eclectus and a Goffin, and the two birds get along great. I have two African Greys, and they don't like each other, although they do chatter back and forth. Even if they don't become friends, you may find that they can be out together on a play stand. The two are comparably sized so you probably don't have to worry about one hurting the other, but you should still supervise any interaction between the two.

Also, it may be a little late for this now, but when you bring a new bird into your home, you should quarantine it for a minimum of 30 days. I believe 60 - 90 days is recommended. This is to ensure that your new bird is healthy, and nothing is passed on to your established flock.
