How big is too big of b/s for a green cheek conure? i've heard 5/8 but i love one avian adventures cage with 3/4 bs. is that too big?

The problem with the larger bar spaces is, "Can he get his head stuck in it?" Smaller is better.

This site recommends bar spacing if 5/8 to 3'4 for conures. 5/8 is probably preferred but I have successfully used 3/4 with no problem. This subject has been discussed to death with as many opinions as there are cage owners. As has been mentioned if your bird can get his head through the bars it can be a problem. Also how the space is measured makes a difference of probably an 1/8 of an inch(bar center to center or actual space)

I have noticed on my cages often the spacing on the bottom removable grill is wider than the side bars . I can just see everyone running to measure. :)

Spacing

For green cheeks, do not use 1x1 as it is just the right size to catch them. Most any other could do. It depends on your own setup. I use 1x1 1/2 wire. That is big and I can see them good in the cage. But I don't have anything around to bother them and they are in a enclosed area to keep whatever else is around away from them. In the house, something could grab them. The most I think would be 3/4, lengh would not matter as 3/4 is small enough to keep them in, but 5/8 would probably work better. Not only do you keep them in, but other things away from them. That would make the decision. Good luck
