Nanday

Postby ladytulsa on Sun Aug 26, 2007 7:18 am

I usually don't post, I just lurk. But this morning my Nanday Bandit decided he wanted to play ball. So he would grab it and then throw it back to me. Then he got up on his playstand and started acting really silly. He would raise his wings about halfway, fluff up and then charge me since I had the ball. I know that Nanday's have gotten a bad rap, but this is the second one I have had and I would not trade him for the world. He is not the only bird I have, but at this point he is the funniest. He is about a yr old, so he is really acting silly. Just wanted to share, if anyone else has a Nanday let me know how they are?

Thanks,
Karen

Nandays are extremely intelligent. Be sure to talk to him a lot. They pick up and understand a lot. Explain things to him. Identify objects. Dont be surprised if he doesnt give you an intelligent answer one day. Mine told me I want lights out when I was late putting him to bed. My Sinbad is 22 years old. Ive had him for 18 years.

Your bird sounds like a doll. Nice work-----Yogi

That is so cool. I love my Bandit, wouldn't trade him for the world. He is probably my greatest joy. They are just so intelligent, and nosey. I hope I can have mine around for that long. He will talk but only when he wants to, he will do it more early in the morning when he is still covered up. I also have a GCC, a BCC, and just recently bought a ringneck. So I love the birds, my BCC talks up a storm, he is about 6 so is my GCC. Seems that Bandit likes to pick things up from Jade, the BCC, but only when he wants to.

My husbands little nanday is such a clown. He demands "drinks" from straws and takes turns with my husband drinking out of a glass. I only get to love him from afar *sigh* He only loves my hubby.

My Nanday Bandit only likes me and my daughter, who lives with us. She is 28. But Bandit will go to her almost as soon as he will go to me. He is such a snot...lol.....but I would not trade him for the world. He does the silliest things and I love to watch him when he is playing on the bottom of his cage. He loves those little balls with bells in them. He will toss them all over the cage. He rolls on his back and just has a fight with one of the balls. He is just so much fun to have around...
