appropriate chew toy?

Postby jeco on Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:35 pm

Ok, had my first conure about a month now. He is such a picky eater. He is very opinionated. Very selective about his toys. So after eating corn on the cob, I let the cob dry out over night and showed it to him. He tore into it like a bull dog with a pork chop. Finally something he likes.
Is a corn cob a safe and appropriate chew toy?
Thanxs

Yes and no
It is as safe as the corn is in that it contains no harmful substance but I have heard of large amounts of cob becoming impacted in the crop. How much is too much? I dont know. That is also one of the reasons corncob litter is not recommended.

Have you tried some of the woven straw toys like the pinatas or the strips you weave through the bars ? They are usually a big hit.---Yogi
