If your bird ever gets away or stolen, you may need to have the band information to identify it. If it looks like it is too small and is bothering the bird, it can be removed at the vet hospital. I personally like having a band on all my birds. They usually have the hatch year and the hatch state. I breed lovebirds and I try to make sure they all have bands on, that way if anyone ever wants to know where the bird came from, they can look up the band info, find me and ask about it. I keep records of all the babies hatched here: Their hatch date, parents, band number, any DNA sexing, ect. I hope this helps!
