patagonian conure breeders

Postby Orphanannie on Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:05 pm

Hi, we are looking to add a patagonian conure to our family. Could anyone recommend a great breeder. Prefer baby, but will take an adult as long as it is tame. I know it is not breeding season but would like to get on waiting list now. Prefer to find a breeder in the Northeast, but not sure that if there are any. Please email me privately if you want at grasspack@aol.com.

Since I am a pattie owner I was interested to see if there are any breeders in my area. I couldn't find any in several NE states. When I got mine it was from a private party through an ad in the classified. I just went to look and was hooked immediately. Didn't even haggle over the price. They are wonderful birds and I wish you luck in finding one.----Yogi

Hello, i have heard they are GREAT birds. So, is yours a rehome? I found a nine month old baby from last years clutch. He hasn't had much handling done for a while, but they claim he is still pretty friendly. Not sure how it would work. Thanks for the info and I can't wait to find one.

Yes she's a rehome. She was rehomed because she was too noisy but I didnt care about the noise. She has quieted down a lot. I got her when she was 1 & a half years old and she's now over 7.She laid an egg at the age of 7 last year . That's why 'her' name is Oliver. She is the most unfeminine bird ever and was assumed to be male by everyone. The way she throws her toys around makes me glad she isn't raising babies. She is extremely intelligent and quite the engineer . She can sort her toys by color and carry them to impossible places. I buy her macaw foot toys. She has been mistaken on the phone for a person. They have a macaw personality.

Here's some more stories about Ollie

Seeing as they seem to be so scarce right now ,is there any chance you could visit the 9 month old ? It would be the same as rehoming a bird if you are familiar with taking in birds. Patties can bite hard but they are like macaws --they learn about bite pressure when chastised
