Blue Crown Conures

Postby Kimmers971 on Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:35 am

I'm thinking of adding a Blue Crown to my flock. I currently have a Dusky & Jenday housed together with no trouble. Can anyone tell me how loud these birds can be or any other quirks they have? Any info is appreciated. Do you think housing with the other 2 would be okay/safe?

Thanks,

Just relying on second hand info I would say a BC is probably the same noise level as a jenday. One of the main reasons I have heard of a BC being rehomed is noise.Noise is in the ear of the beholder. One man's faucet drip is the roar of Niagara Falls to another.

I wouldn't even hazard a guess whether you could safely house your birds together (same cage?)Each bird is an individual and no one can guarantee any birds will get along.-----Yogi

Hi There,
I have a Blue Conure. Tiki is about 4 1/2 months old and she is a doll. I think she is pretty quiet. Now she has her moments when my other birds get going but even then not that much. She is my first Conure so I dont know really how loud they get. I dont know if she will get louder as she gets older but as of now she isnt that noisy at all. She says Step Up but she doesnt Step Up. LOL Having a hard time getting her to do that. Any ideas? She loves to cuddle and if I wasnt afraid I would mash her I think she would sleep cuddled up all night. I am fascinated with all the Conures. I would love to know about the two you have and thier temperments and all. How is thier noise level. I have a Hahns Macaw so I know about noise. LOL I dont know about putting them together. Ii think I could with Tiki but I also think every bird is different. Maybe if they grew up together...I really cant answer that question. I would surely reccomend a Blue Crown and they are beautiful.

My BC can be VERY Loud, to the point that the neighbors down the way could hear her screaming when she really started belt it out. Note that we lived on a farm, so none of our neighbors were close enough to pitch a stone at.

Jojo could be vocal but we lived in a trailor park and the neighbors never complained even in the summer with the windows open! This is my new baby at 5 weeks will be awhile before he or she gets to come home! Image
